Puberty is the time when the body matures into its adult form and our sexual organs become fully developed. The physical changes that occur in the body are the result of an increase in hormones. Growth occurs faster than any other time in adult life.
Puberty is also a time of emotional change. It can be great, confusing, worrying, and exciting all at the same time. We can feel awesome one moment and sad or angry the next.
Our feelings towards parents and friends can change too. We may feel that no one understands what we are going through. It might be a good idea to try to seek out advice from friends, parents or other people who we trust.
The most important fact about puberty is that everyone is unique. Everybody grows in their own way and at their own speed. Even though sometimes we look at other people’s bodies to compare them to our own, we should try not to be pressured to look a certain way.
